Torquay Merchant began eight years ago with nothing more than a late night Instagram scroll and a wild idea. When I rang mum and said "Let's buy this business!" I never would've thought that a a social worker and a primary school teacher could take a leap into the world of retail and relocate to Torquay. But that's exactly what we did and what a ride it's been. 

Over the years we've laughed, cried, and certainly shared a few differences of opinion. But through it all we've built something to be truly proud of. Torquay Merchant has evolved in ways we never could have imagined, becoming a space that feels warm, welcoming and is a fast favourite of the surf coast shopping experience. 

The constant through every twist and turn has been our loyal, regular customers who pop in for a visit, who choose to support small, and who have stood by us every step of the way. We simply wouldn't be here eight years later without you!

Recently we've embraced a fresh new chapter - moving into a a more intimate space and focusing on Australian fashion and lifestyle brands that reflect the coastal, creative spirit of Torquay. It feels like our most genuine version yet.
